You Can’t Have Christ and the World Too

A man has an affair while he talks about the Lord. A woman cusses at her husband and children, then prays with someone over the phone. Too many people want their fleshly life and their Godly one, but it doesn’t work that way. You must choose which path you will take.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. ~2 Corinthians 5:17

How do you know if someone is in Christ? He is a new creation. He is not the same person he’s always been, with Jesus now tagging along behind. Rather, Christ lives in him or her (Galatians 2:20), convicting and transforming from the inside out.

My grandparents used to sing:

Oh, don’t look for me to go where I used to go before. I don’t go there anymore. I found a better way.
Oh, don’t look for me to say the things I used to say before. I don’t say them anymore. I found a better way.

My prayer is that we all find that better way. If your friends and family don’t know that you love Jesus, you should take a hard look at your life to determine whether or not you really are in the Faith (2 Corinthians 13:5).
